How Healthy is Your Gut?
A few weeks ago, during a team training meeting, we started to talk about a hierarchy of what we need to fix first. When it comes to movement, we know that answer. We have systems laid out that help guide us in choosing the proper strategies to rebuild lost movement capabilities. However, when we’re looking at the complex human body and how it functions as a whole, we didn’t really have a set hierarchy of what to attack first.
Outside of restoring breathing, the topic that kept coming up was gut health and how important it was to overall health. Our gut is our barrier to the outside world. It helps us absorb nutrients, block toxins from entering our immune system, and is vital to maintaining homeostasis. If we have a compromised immune system, it could lead to:
- Unexplained Weight Gain and Obesity
- Thyroid Dysfunction
- Acid Reflux
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
- Mental Fog
- Frequent Moodiness or Changes in Mood
- Negative reactions to food (gas, burping, bloating, upset stomach)
- Prolonged Recovery Times from Sickness and Injury
- Chronic Pain
- And the list can go on and on….
Check out this short informational video on the importance of your gut. It will help break down a complex system and make it easy to digest….Pun TOTALLY intended 🙂
