WHY WE GO THE EXTA MILE AND USE THE FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT SYSTEMS

At R3, we use the Functional Movement Systems to screen and assess how our bodies move and function in a coordinated fashion. The Functional Movement Systems is a robust system that creates standards, baselines, and norms for human movement. Essentially, the complete system encompasses the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (medical model), Functional Movement Screen, Y-Balance Screening for Motor Control, and the Functional Capacity Screen. Depending on your current level of readiness, we’ll choose the appropriate screening method to guide us with programming. Here are some of the benefits of using the systems:

Scoring criteria allows you and your trainers to see if your movement patterns are improving, or if the training program is having a positive or negative effect on your baseline movement. This way you know what is happening with your training based on fact.
